Rene Mitchel – Kohler Motors Cape Town

Bosch Car Service is renowned worldwide for expert service, ground-breaking innovation, and striving for excellence in everything we do. And we couldn’t do it without our Bosch Car Service Partners.

One such example is Rene Mitchel of Kohler Motors in Cape Town. Rene is the owner of Kohler Motors N1 City and Parklands. Before being given the opportunity to become a part-owner of three workshops, namely Claremont, Parow and Tokai, she was assigned the role of Junior Service Advisor. Through hard work, exceptional organisational skills, and impressive efficiency, Rene was promoted to Administrative Branch Manager.

After four years as a partner, Rene’s key business partner, Peter Kohler, proposed that she should start her own workshop. While this had its challenges, she managed to successfully open the doors of Kohler Motors Parklands in 2020. Parklands took off, and before long, Rene was able to open her second Kohler Motors at N1 City in 2021.

Rene attributes her success to being hands-on with the needs of her staff and what motivates them to be their best. She strives to upskill her staff and has had two candidates successfully graduate from cleaners to Junior Service Advisers. Based on monthly KPIs, she incentivises staff through monthly bonus structures, which not only increased the company’s GP but also created a more inspiring and motivating working environment.

She also firmly believes in the power of building strong relationships with employees to improve work satisfaction. As a result of these relationships, Rene has recruited most of her staff through recommendations from current employees. Rene currently owns or has shares in five BCS and eBCS service centers with aspirations to add to the portfolio. She is one of the first BCS partners to incentivise her sales team to sell more Bosch products and firmly believes in the future of Bosch Car Service.

I realised that to grow in the market I needed to join a workshop concept. Investigating all the different workshop concepts only one stood out for me and that was Bosch. They are the developers of the parts we fit to our vehicles, they sell the equipment we need to repair those vehicles and they offer training which none of the other networks offer.

Since I joined the Bosch Car Service network my business has grown in turnover and we get more of the newer vehicles/models and also receive more specialised work which other workshops struggle to repair.

Can I still use spare parts other than Bosch?

Yes, you can. Bosch offers a wide range of quality parts but if there is an availability issue then using OE-approved parts is allowed.

Can I keep my workshop name?

Yes, your name will remain the same but all other branding will be updated to conform with our Corporate Identity guidelines.

Are there minimum requirements to join the Bosch network?

Yes, there are several requirements to join the Bosch Network, such as number of bays, qualified technicians, geolocation, equipment (including lifts), and more. We will cover these in detail when you contact us.
